Welcome to Pack 180!

We're glad to have you and hope this page will answer most of your questions about how to get started with our Pack.  It's based on the most frequently asked questions we have gotten over the years.  If you have not done so already, please let us know your email address as soon as possible so that we may more easily keep you informed of what is happening in the pack.

The registration fee covers the basics: membership fee for the Boy Scouts of America, insurance, Cub Scout manual, and badges.  You will need to buy a uniform and some patches which are described in more detail below.  We also hold a fundraiser early in the year which enables us to pay for activities like the camping trips, annual picnic, naturalist talks, refreshments and entertainment at Pack Meetings, etc.  The fundraiser usually consists of selling one $40 box of candy with the option to "buy out" of selling candy by making a $25 donation.  There are incentives in the form of prizes for boys who can sell more than one box of candy.

By the first pack meeting we will:

The Uniform

Uniforms can be purchased at, Pozzi's in Hackensack, Ramsey Outdoor stores, and other stores in the area that carry Scout clothing.

Tigers

The uniform for Tigers (1rst graders) is easy.  It's an orange T-shirt with a Tiger Cub logo.  We suggest getting a simple short sleeve T-shirt but long sleeve sweat shirts are available.  That's all Tiger Cubs need.  There are other accessories available, these are all OPTIONAL.

Everyone Else

Second graders are Wolves, third graders are Bears, and fourth and fifth graders are Webelos.  Wolves and Bears wear a blue uniform while Webelos have the option of wearing blue or tan uniforms.  The uniform guide shows in detail where all the insignia and badges go, but we've outlined below what you'll need to purchase.  Refer to the uniform guide for info on where it all goes.

Badges, activity pins, and more

The pack will provide badges, Webelos activity pins, arrow points, and compass points as they are earned (don't worry about it right now if you don't know what any of these are).  Extra sports pins, belt loops, religious medals, and patches outside of what is required or earned in a rank will be purchased and awarded by the pack but the boy's family must pay the actual cost of the award (usually ranging from less than $1 to $3 although some of the religious medals can go as high as $15).

Questions?

If you have any questions, feel free to ask your Den Leader, Pack Committee member, or email us at n2mfc@arrl.net.
