Tripod Rock Hike - 10/30/99 |

Tripod Rock, aka Three Pillar Rock, is a glacial erratic. 18,000 years ago when the Wisconsin Glacier receded from the area, this multi-ton boulder was left balanced upon three smaller boulders.
They all used their Cubmaster as a ladder but the boulder later needed some support...

We could not have asked for a better day for
a hike.

On the orange trail we came across a beaver lodge and trees downed by beavers that live in the lake.
Here's a close up of some of their handiwork.
While we did not see any beavers swimming in the lake, we did spot a salamander, a snake, and a few other creatures.
