June Overnight |
Back to Home |
Our June overnight was held again at Alpine Boy Scout Camp. The weather was perfect the entire weekend. Everyone had a great time!
The trip started off for some of us on Friday evening arriving to find that another pack had set up on our site by mistake. Once that mess was straightened out we set up camp, made a campfire, and enjoyed the evening.
Some of us took a hike Friday night without the aid of flashlights. This helped us to learn about night vision and also how to find our footing in the dark. We heard several birds including an owl during our hike (but we mostly heard boys and girls).
A few of us took a hike on the Gold trail Saturday morning after
breakfast. Here we are taking a rest on a log.

The Saturday afternoon hike to the Palisades overlooking the Hudson River is
always a lot of fun. On the way there we saw a deer and several species of
birds including a special treat, a red bird with black wings. It was a Scarlet
Tanager which lives in forests and shade trees (esp. oaks) and lives during
the summers in southeast Canada and the eastern US and winters all the way down
in Columbia and Amazonia South America.
Some pictures atop the Palisades and at the Women's Federation Castle.

Our weekend program concluded with a Pack meeting in which several awards were
given out and the boys entertained everyone with skits.
The meeting was followed up with marshmallow roasting and hot cocoa.
Assistant Cubmaster JR did another masterful job of campfire tending.
Here he is with Bruce and Justin relaxing after the campfire program.
It was a long and active weekend and everyone caught up on some well deserved
rest!
Bruce, was that enough narration? Send me your email address and I'll add you to our email list. By the way, you are probably one of the only ones who will read this because it is white text displayed on a white background!
